Supportive Housing Program

The ECS Supportive Housing Program brings together:

  • A low-income family with set goals to strive for.
  • An experienced case manager from Episcopal Community Services.
  • A faith-congregation in partnership with Episcopal Community Services.
  • A group of individuals from that faith-congregation committed to supporting families in need.
  • A volunteer mentor willing to make a personal investment in the life of a family.
  • A rental subsidy and various practical resources provided by the faith-congregation.

While in the program, participant families work to:

  • Locate stable, affordable housing
  • Stabilize the family budget.
  • Employ strategies to improve economic self-sufficiency.
  • Identify and enhance family strengths.
  • Connect to the community through a network of resources.
  • Identify long-range goals.

The ECS Supportive Housing Program matches participant families with a professional Case Manager from an ECS Family Resource Center serving the family’s community. Together, they work in partnership – long-term (18 – 24 months) to meet the family’s individualized goals around housing, employment and family life security and healthy function.

Parents and primary care-givers commit to working together, with an ECS Case Manager and volunteer mentor, to build a strong family foundation. One that will take them beyond their current struggles. This commitment, in turn, provides the additional support and “safety net” so many families desire and need to overcome long-term barriers to social and economic success.
